BREAKING: Massive Slate of Star Wars Disney+ News Released including 'Ahsoka' series and return of Hayden Christensen
Disney and Lucasfilm announced a massive slate of new live-action Disney+ Star Wars news during their annual Disney Investor Day virtual panel today.
The news included the announcement of Rosario Dawson starring in her own Ahsoka Tano spinoff series on Disney+, whose official logo was also unveiled. Dawson will be reprising her role as the live-action counterpart to the “Clone Wars” character from Season 2, Episode 5 of “The Mandalorian” entitled “The Jedi.”
As the character has been introduced as far back as the events of “Attack of the Clones” and most recently post-”Return of the Jedi,” it is currently unknown if the series will follow her after the events of “The Mandalorian” or follow her at another point in that wide span of Star Wars history.
Also announced was the return of Hayden Christensen to the Obi-Wan Disney+ series as Darth Vader, with the potential to still appear as Anakin Skywalker in a flashback. An official logo for the series, entitled “Obi-Wan Kenobi” was also unveiled.
A live-action Lando Calrissian Disney+ series entitled simply “Lando” was also officially confirmed, with Donald Glover returning in the role from 2018’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” Its official logo was also revealed in the process.
Some new original projects were also announced, including the announcement of “The Acolyte” series, which was described as a mystery thriller following the Sith re-emerging during the end of the High Republic era before the events of the Prequels.
Also coming is a new interesting and creative project called “Star Wars: Visions” which will feature anime short films set in the Star Wars universe all from iconic Japanese anime creators.
Lastly, a series entitled “Rangers of the High Republic” was announced. Star Wars fans may recalls that the Rangers are galactic law-enforcement officials that serve the Republic.
Our first look at the “Cassian Andor” live-action Disney+ series was also given, as well as our first trailer for “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” but these will be saved for their own subsequent article.
All of these Disney+ projects are expected to enter production next year and release sometime between late 2021 through 2022.
