'No Time To Die' Trailer Reveals More Details on New Bond Film
MGM/Universal Pictures have released the latest trailer for the upcoming James Bond adventure No Time To Die. Daniel Craig will be returning to play 007 for the fifth and supposedly final time while Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, True Detective) will be directing.
No Time To Die arrives five years after the last Bond adventure Spectre and finds the secret agent coming out of retirement again in search of a missing scientist. During his mission, Bond finds out there is a much bigger threat at hand and must save the world in his way once again.
Alongside Craig, No Time To Die sees Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffery Wright and Christoph Waltz reprising their roles from the franchise. Newcomers include Ana De Armas as an operative agent from Santiago, Lashana Lynch as a fellow Double-O agent and Oscar winner Rami Malek as the disfigured villain Safin.
The trailer does a fantastic job of showcasing the action packed stunt filled extravagance that the Bond series is known for while also highlighting some brilliant cinematography, a complicated and even timely plot and a sense of potential closure for Craig as his time as Bond draws to a close. Fukunaga is definitely a filmmaker with an eye for visual beauty as his previous works have featured jaw dropping imagery and for his first foray into the world of blockbusters, he seems to be continuing that trend.
Although the Bond franchise is one of the most lucrative in movie history, this latest adventure has had a fairly long road to the screen. Danny Boyle was initially hired to direct the film with a November 2019 release but the Oscar winning director stepped down due to creative differences. Fukunaga was then given the job in September 2018 for a February 2020 release which was then pushed to April 10. As well known, the film was the first major tentpole to push back it’s release as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and would ultimately serve as sort of a domino for the industry’s changing release date strategy. It is now currently scheduled to hit domestic theaters on November 20, 2020 a week after its UK release on the 12th. Given the launch of the trailer and more theaters slowly reopening around the world plus Tenet’s promising results internationally so far, MGM/Universal must be very confident pressing forward.
